About my chiropractic journey
My journey into chiropractic care began with a personal story of healing. Originating from High Wycombe and raised on the Isle of Wight, I ventured on an educational path to the McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Oxfordshire, where my passion for helping others took root. My encounter with chiropractic practices stemmed from personal pain as a young footballer. Faced with an enduring injury at the age of sixteen, which traditional treatments couldn't alleviate, I sought chiropractic as a hopeful solution. With a brief course of treatment, I was back in the game within weeks. This transformative experience ignited my passion to provide others with the same relief I had felt. Today, with years of experience spanning multiple countries, I am dedicated to informing patients and guiding them towards lives free from pain.
A personalised approach to care
At Stuart McCarthy Chiropractic, the philosophy revolves around making every patient feel informed and empowered. I believe in breaking down complex medical jargon into easily understandable concepts, ensuring that patients never leave my office confused. This approach aligns with the famous words of Einstein: 'If you can’t explain something to a 5-year-old, then you don’t understand it well enough.' My empathetic communication style is aimed at creating a collaborative plan where both practitioner and patient work as a team to address pain at its root and restore vitality. By focusing on clear communication, I help patients understand their condition and the steps required to reclaim their best lives. This approach not only relieves physical discomfort but also alleviates the mental strain often caused by medical misunderstandings.

In delivering chiropractic solutions, I embody precision and compassion. The practice draws from my substantial experience of working across countries, bringing diverse techniques and innovative strategies to the forefront. Every session is bespoke – tailored to individual needs and thoroughly communicated to ensure the patient's confidence and understanding. I first met Stuart May 2022, following years of being a paramedic (26 years in total) I found I couldn’t stand up straight due to pain in my lower back, thoracic pain when lying down, lower back pain when moving/lifting and long periods of standing. I was “a tin man” following Stuart’s treatment and treatment plan I felt better within weeks, I now go to Stuart for maintenance and haven’t had any pain or reduced movement since. I don’t take any pain relief now, I go to the gym regularly and I am all round a healthier happy person, I highly recommend Stuart.

FAQ - Can I Get Worse After An Adjustment?
After an adjustment certain areas of the spine are sitting in a different position which affects how they function. This can cause some discomfort for a few days post treatment in order for the body to adjust to this new position. Therefore, it is not uncommon a few days after an adjustment to feel some discomfort. It doesn’t mean that the treatment or adjustment hasn’t worked- it simply means that it’s responding to the treatment.
